Hacking up pristine factory sheet metal

With the engine being setback around 16", lots of factory sheet metal has got to go. The reinforcement flange at the base of the dash will end going away later to pick up another inch or so of clearance.
So much for the stock wiper motor location, as well as the body mounts at the front of the floor pans.
I am closing in the door jambs where they were trimmed back.
This is when you invest in a pneumatic body saw.

Had to include a shot of cool welding hat.
The base of the windshield will stay.  The removable cowl panel that sits in front of it is gone.  Fiberglass hood will be extended to take its place.
I made permanent seat mounts out of aluminum, to replace the steel mockups. These will go away later.

Here you can see the inner reinforcements for the door hinges.  Stock hinges will be reused, but converted to removable quick pins.
Sad to see all that sheet metal laying on the floor, but this project did start out as an $800 shell.
Wife gave me a Ring Brothers billet aluminum shifter and holey ball for Christmas 2014. How did she know?
